Adventure Australia
With a 125 ccm DERBI all around the red Continent.

The 200 years old country Australia is not known as a continent with lots of winding
roads.
It is well known as a country with wild nature und friendly people. It is a dirt bike and
choppper country. That's one reason I get rid of the snowy and cold Europe. In Australia
on the other side of the earth, its summertime. So I choosed this land to ride my dirt
bike.
The temperature are all the time around 30 up to 40 and more. "Yeah" riding
motorcycle
in Australia sounds easy.
So I tried to make this surrounding in only 22 days. The distance was almost 13.000 km
und none of this kilometers. I won`t miss. I started the 21 of January in Sydney and than
heading in direction Melbourne.
The costline from Australia is very impressive

A must for a motorcycle rider is a drive on the Great Ocean Road. There you can tank
"curves"
later you will hardly find winding roads. After 1500 kilometer ist is time for the first
Service.

Sometimes a DERBI like a service
"I` am sure that in front of the 12 Aposteln hardly other motorcycles received a
service.
The 12 Apostel are a great thing to see

"One of the straight streets on this journey are the road on the nullabor plain. 145
kms only straight. Dangerous there are the road trains witch have a length from over 50
meter. I have to be carefull that they don`t push me from the street. When a train is
coming you can only jump in the terrain. Another adventure is to ride during the sunset
without having any contact with a Kanguruh. I was very pleased not to hit one of these
animals and sleped tired in my tent.
Camping in Australia is "easy going"

"The Kanguruhs in this country are all crazy. On the way from the south coast up to
Broome I had a
nice gravel road to go for it. This is the home of the Derbi Senda 125R. It was not a
problem at all,
that the bike had only 12 horsepower. It is going over the red sand like hell. Sometimes
we had nice
jumps together. I had a lot of fun riding with arround 90 km/h along the gravell road.
the gravell road ist the place a DERBI like to be

By the way I` really would liked to drive along the gun barrel gravell road to Alice
Springs, but 22 days
are not enough do do that.
The heat is sometimes a horror. On my TOURATECH equipement I see the 46 degree celcius.
Under this circumstances. I have to fill up the camelback source systems often. The good
Derbi needs
only 4.2 Liter it don`t care if it is used on a gravell road or used in the heat. I need
sometimes more water
than the bike. Back on the coast I was happy because I don`t have to smell the death and
rotten Kanguruhs.
The death Kanguruhs are for motor riders still dangerous

Now I can smell the green gras. Anyway a motor rider smells everything especially here in
Australia. I pass the "Kimberly Nationalpark" und enjoy "the grotto" a
waterfall . Sure I was in some heavy rainstorms and should have enough from water, but
swimming under a waterfall is something special. To ride during the summer in the northern
parts of Australia is quite a bit dangerous, because the tornados and twisters can push
easily a motorcycle from the street. Good clothes are a necessary item. But sometimes the
well done IXS Goretex clothes have to fight against the water. And I have always an eye on
the "floodsign indicators" not seldom the street are up to two meters under the
water.
"no woories" there is always a way- watch out for the floodsign
indicator

Sometimes the roads are closed for three weeks. The only thing you can do than, is to
wait.
But I had really luck the DERBI had only to pass roads with a max. from 30 cm water on it.
And this means nothing for this bike.
Adventure-water

Back to the east coast everything was "easy going mate". I changed in Townsville
the rear tire and chain
kit and prepared the bike for the last 2500 km. With this top bike it is not a big deal to
ride 900 km a day.
Only my ass had some problems with the distances. An infection and some blisters made the
last kilometers
painfull.
But at he end every pain was forgotten. The DERBI and I made it !
Sydney, one of the "best" cities I ever saw

Only 18 days was needed to ride all around Australia. So now are some days left to enjoy
this beautifull
country Australia.
I enjoyed the beaches and the wonderful sunsets.
Sunsets you`ll never forget

The total driven distance was 12850 km in 18 days.
